What we found out:

The Council received a considerable number of responses to the consultation regarding the re-introduction of parking charges in the Council’s city centre car parks. We want to thank everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and views on the matter.

A number of suggestions/comments made were for things that are already in place in the car parks or city centre and are available to the public now such as season tickets for long stay parking in Waterworld and Crescent Road car parks, both of which give a modest saving if used 5 days a week and short stay free parking in limited waiting bays that can be found at a number of conveniently placed locations across the city.  Pay and display tickets are already transferable between the short stay car parks and disabled can park for free without a time limit in any car park which is remaining the same.

What difference has it made?:

There are ongoing discussions in relation to Freedom Leisure membership concessions and discussions are already occurring in relation to Council staff and member parking arrangements. It was also noted that there is support for future considerations such as park and ride and other parking management schemes.

Whilst the majority of respondee’s wanted the free parking arrangements to remain unchanged, that is simply not possible given the financial situation being faced by Wrexham Council and the decision has been made to –re-introduce the parking charges as proposed from 1 April 2024.

Once again thank you for taking the time to share your views and thoughts.
