The purpose of the draft revision Local Planning Guidance Note 5: Houses in Multiple Occupation is to set out criteria for how proposals for houses in multiple occupation (HMO) will be assessed so that smaller/more affordable units of accommodation can continue to be developed whilst at the same time trying to avoid over concentrations of HMOs in specific areas. The guidance also sets out the important planning requirements for HMOs, including minimum external areas for large HMOs.

In parallel with the proposed up addition an update to Local Planning Guidance Note 16: Parking is proposed.

The draft SPG seeks to provide clear and easy to understand guidance to raise awareness of the AONB and improve the quality of development and landscape design in and around the AONB. When approved by each of the Local Planning Authorities the SPG will be a material planning consideration in determining planning applications and appeals.

We've been working on a plan that we hope will shape the present and future of the county borough of Wrexham.

It's really important we get it right. That's why we've worked hard to involve you every step of the way, and now it’s time to ask for your views on the plan that we’ve drafted. 

Local Councils have less money to spend on services because Government (UK and Wales) are giving us less money in our budgets every year.  Wrexham Council has already saved around £18 million in the last three years, and we think we’re going to have to find another £13 million over the next two years. Overall, we have had to make savings of £52 million since 2008.

We want to be able to deliver good services to you, and we’re always looking for ways to get better at what we’re doing.  We are working hard to become a more modern organisation and to make sure that we have the right staff and services in place to meet the needs of local people. 

We are trying to make savings which don’t affect the public in a bad way, but as we have less and less money to spend every year, it’s getting harder.  We are also given new responsibilities by Welsh Government every year, which all cost money and time (e.g. changes in Social Services).

More than 3,700 people took part in the consultation and gave their views about the proposals we made, as well as making some suggestions of their own.

The results from the consultation were presented to Elected Members in order to shape the decisions they made about Wrexham County Borough Council's budget for 2018/19.

Wrexham Adult Social Care Department recognises that the right information and advice; given at the right time, can empower people to achieve positive outcomes in their lives.

Our vision is that Wrexham citizens are able to get information and advice about how to improve their independence and wellbeing, when they need it, in the way they need it, wherever they look for it.

We want our citizens to have the information and support they need to live safe, active, healthy lives and to be able to live independently for longer.  A key aspect of achieving this outcome is for citizens to have easy access to Information, Advice & Assistance.  Section 17 of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014 places a duty upon the Local Authority to establish an Information, Advice and Assistance service.

Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) is looking to understand how people travel in Wrexham and the wider County Borough, in order to develop sustainable travel solutions and infrastructure plans for the future. It is designed to help inform the transport approach for the emerging Local Development Plan (LDP) and will form part of the evidence used.

The OW People’s Market Development will be a cultural community resource, bringing together arts and markets within the same footprint. This coexistence will celebrate the significance of markets within Wrexham’s cultural heritage and identity.

The development will be a new space for dialogue around subjects including social and civic issues, the environment, health, cultural identity, sustainability and education.

We will present a contemporary programme of welcoming and inclusive exhibitions, socially engaged projects and live performance. The programme will emphasise skills and craft, working with emerging and established artists from all backgrounds.

Wrexham Adult Social Care Department is looking to expand the ways in which it provides support to people with eligible needs in Wrexham.

People who use our services tell us that they wish to be cared for within their own homes and communities, rather than in residential care. One of the services we currently provide to older people is called ‘Shared Lives, Day Support’, which provides day time support to a group of up to 3 people in the home of a registered Shared Lives Carer. Shared Lives Carers are registered to provide personal care, as well as befriending support and support people to access their local community. This service is currently available to people aged over 65 years of age.

We would like to expand this service, to enable greater numbers of people, across all our client groups to access the support it has to offer. We are also interested in developing an Adult Placement in Wrexham, which can be accessible to all persons with eligible social care needs. Adult Placement is where an individual lives, on either a temporary or permanent basis, with a Shared Lives Carer/ family. This type of service is often used as an alternative to residential care or to enable people to begin their independent living journey. There is currently no Adult Placement Scheme in Wrexham. Within this pack there are some information sheets which provide some brief information on what this type of service looks like, in terms of who can access it, and what it costs for the individual.
